Sandra R. Edwards

Sandra Edwards, 67, of Green Valley, AZ, formerly of Lake Quivira, KS, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005. She was born November 9, 1937, in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Spencer and Elizabeth Linder. She attended Monmouth College and the University of Illinois and eventually earned her nursing degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College. Sandie worked as a pediatric nurse at Shawnee Mission Medical Center for many years. While living in Kansas, she was a member of Lake Quivira Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf with her husband and friends and building friendships through clubs and various community events. She took these loves and interests to Green Valley, AZ, where she developed many new special friends. Her life was largely spent by serving others, either by frequent volunteer work at the Elks Club or ushering at the Desert Hills Lutheran Church. Sandie was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Elizabeth Linder; her husbands, John Willis Black and Robert Edwards. She is survived by her brother, Lawrence Linder and his wife, Judy of Hastings, NY. She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Drees and her husband, Greg of Prairie Village; her son, Robert Newth and his wife, Mary, of Overland Park. Sandie was a loving grandmother and cherished by her grandchildren, Taylor and Evan Drees and Connor, Hillary, Jentry, Delaney and Sydney Newth. Memorial services will be held at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, on Friday, June 10, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Desert Hills Lutheran Church, 2150 Camino del Sol, Green Valley, AZ 85614 c/o Rev.
