So long ago the Glancy family was a big deal in the neighborhood to all of us John's mom we called her Gran I was just a young boy my parents split up when I was about 7 the Glancy family really kind of took us under their wing John was really good to me used to take me to softball games over at University Park and to Phoenix Road Runner games and the Phoenix Suns and helped me build a solar oven this was all back in the 60s. John Glancy was a really good man he was good to everybody very kind and caring Now that I'm older I look back and you realize so much that you take for granted and he was 1 person that I did His mom grand was wonderful so sweet a real treasure and just took us into her home we used to play cards and eat and just laugh and have fun those were good times, but tough times family wise but the Glancy family like I said looked out for us. I remember John's brother Richard he was a real character I remember he had a fast car a barracuda and a big gray Weimaraner dog and I got to go up flying with him a time or too he was quite the character a really neat person that whole family was wonderful so talented a true Arizona Family so good to us my mom Barbara my sister Debbie and my aunt Susie we lived on Taylor St. In Phoenix.May GOD BLESS THE GLANCY FAMILY.

I remember that "Uncle" (as we knew him) came to events and sports games of his nieces and nephews at St. Vincent de Paul. He was always there to support them and cheer them on!

John and I were at U of A together in the 1960´s and both ended up in Phoenix. In 1981 John designed the footings for my big sculpture across from the ball park at 7th Street and Jefferson ("Hyperbolic Ellipsoid") and a year later he programed the plasma cutter at Marathon to cut out the sculpture that is located one block to the north at 7th Street and Washington ("Parabolic Spiral"). Photos included.
Even when there was a year or more between our conversations, when we got together again it was like only a day or two had passed and we picked up right where we had left off. We worked together for the last time early last summer when he helped me with a solar structure design. He was the same as ever: knowable, competent, helpful, understated and blessed with a great sense of humor. While my cumulative time with John was limited, he will remain in my memory as a genuinely good human being and someone I always valued and enjoyed.
