John Gorine Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 18, 2013.
Jack was born April 7,1954 and raised in Randolph, New Jersey. He graduated from Trenton State College in 1978 where he was a member of Sigma-Tau-Chi fraternity and played intramural hockey. He moved to Ann Arbor in 1978 and married the love of his life, Kathy Borysko. He worked at Boysville of Michigan while attending the University of Michigan's School of Social Work, obtaining his masters degree in 1985. Jack started his career with the U.S. government in 1986, retiring from the U.S. Probation Department for the Eastern District Court in May 2010.
Together Jack and Kathy raised their three children, Allison, John and Kevin. Jack loved all sports whether playing, watching or coaching. When his children entered Ann Arbor Huron High he became not only a supportive fan, but also a tireless, mostly good humored volunteer for the swim/dive and water polo teams. It is safe to say that watching his children and their teams excel, was one of Jack's greatest thrills.
Retirement allowed Jack to spend more time with his family and friends. Most days he could be spotted walking his dog Hazel, and he always looked forward to golf outings and fishing trips, especially to the Jersey shore. He could also be found playing countless hours of hockey and was a member of the Golden Masters Hockey League, continuing to play up until January 2013.
In addition to his wife and children, Jack is survived by his mother Joyce Gorine, sisters Karen and Patty, brother in laws Bob, Ron and Tim, sister in law Lori, niece Stephanie and nephews David, Joe and Ronnie. A huge hole burns in our heart with Jacks passing. We can cry for his departure but smile because he was in our life.
Visitation is at Muehlig Funeral Chapel Thursday, March 21, from 4-6:30pm with a funeral service at 6:30 and a reception to follow.

To the Gorine Family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of Jack's passing. I have some great memories of our exploits in high school and after that I will cherish forever. Time and distance took us in different directions but I always looked forward to catching up and regret not having the chance to spend more time together. I could see how much he loved his family and friends and I feel the pain of his loss. Our love goes out to the Gorine family.

To the Gorine Family, I have such fond memories of growing up on Windsor Ave, where 2 homes were on the Dover side of town, I am grateful that the Gorine family was on the Randolph side. Jack was quite comical as even at a younger age. I do remember him spray painting rocks gold and saying it was gold, or fool's gold and the fun that was had in a neighborhood where bikes were ridden, kick ball was played and life was quite simple, that was 60's. Jack was a light that will continue to shine. Our sincere condolences and prayers are with you at this time. With Love, Nancy(Sappio),John,Chris & Carly Famiglietti

Jack, I love you very very much, and I'm sorry. Thank you for giving me a second chance at life and caring for me along the way. I will always admire the heart you had, and the man you were. There are too many times that you showed me how to be a respectable man, from teaching me how to chop fire wood, to how to care unconditional for another person. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything.

To: Mrs. Gorine & Family,

To know Jack was to love Jack. I was impressed with his dedication to his family, his fellowman and his professionalism when he applied for a position as a United States Probation Officer (USPO), and it was a combination of all of these variables that allowed me to hire him as a USPO. We were also easy friends as we both earned M.S.W.s from the U of Mich. Jack's great dedication to his work benefitted the clients that he encountered and the United States District Court system.
We all loved JACK, but God loved him more.

It was my great privilege, on occasion, to join Jack and other neighborhood hackers on the golf course. My last round in 2012 was with Jack, Gene Rye, and Dave Hibbs. Late October (Nov?), sunny but VERY cold. It was Gene's treat, but the real treat was enjoying yet another round with Jack. As always, his presence, his love of the game (if not always HIS game) and his ever-present humor kept us warm in the chill. A unique and special man...

Our deepest sympathies.

I was doubly lucky to have been a Randolph buddy of Jack's and then later, a Trenton State College fraternity brother. Jackson had a uniquely wry wit and shot from the hip but always in a kidding and kindly fashion. I'm glad we kept in touch a bit and wish geographical distance didn't preclude us from getting together more often. Jack showed a tremendous amount of courage throughout this ordeal and focused his concerns on
the family he loved so much and was so proud of. Whenever I think of Jack he will be there with that grin and a great story for me. Deepest sympathies to Jack's family and to his many friends.

Rest in peace brother,

Billy
