John Granowski Obituary

Granowski John S. ``Jack'', age 53 of Las Vegas, NV formerly of S. Mpls, died in Las Vegas after a short illness on 1-18-02. Graduate of Mpls Roosevelt High School 1966 and graduate of the University of Minnesota. Preceded in death by mother, June, brother, Mitchell, father, John, grandparents, John & Martha Granowski, and grandfather, Alfred Timm. Survived by 5-year-old son, John IV ``Johnny'', brother, Mark of Hopkins, niece, Desiree Granowski of Burnsville, nephew, John Carrigan of Savage, grandmother, Mina Timm, many uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. Jack moved to Las Vegas in 1978 to pursue his career in sports and racebook. Employed by Poker Palace, Las Vegas. Former employee of Aladdin, Maxim's, Fiesta and other hotels and casinos, as well as Santa Anita and many other sports books in Las Vegas, Reno and Laughlin. He was a volunteer for Ask the Experts website (gaming), and a member of Toastmasters. He was heavily involved in Equal Rights for Divorced Fathers. Minnesota Jack was an author; his latest book, ``The Half Book 2001, Betting NFL Halftimes''. Well respected for his knowledge and statistic keeping, he was named one of the influential people in Las Vegas and the world of sports and racebook. Most of all, Jack loved his son Johnny very much. Memorial Service Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2 PM, with a reception to follow, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 8600 Fremont Ave. S., Bloomington, 55420; (952-881-8600). Bring photos and stories if you'd like and help us celebrate Jack's life.
