Sonny and my late cousin, Mike Dougherty, were besties way back when. They played football for four years for CBC.
Sonny's brother, Bob, was in my '58 CBC Class; another Good Guy!

John was our long time neighbor and friend. He loved his family, Christmas, Civil War history, reenactments, hunting, fishing, oranges, church, rain and Snoopy. We will miss him!

Mike- your dad was the sweetest man. After I went to another church I would see him at diebergs. He always had a smile even though he was in obvious pain and he always stopped to chat. I will miss him... Fondly karen ( musich) diehl-- jen's mom

Life long friend of "Sonny" from early grade school thru college. I have many fond memories growing up with the "Grellner boys" who lived down the street from my brother Stan and me. My condolences to his brothers Bob and Tom. Jerry Meier, Kirkwood, MO.

So very saddened by the news of Mr. Grellner's passing. My prayers are with Paul, Matt, John, and Mike and their families during this difficult time ahead. Hoping you can find some comfort knowing that your Dad is at peace. Much love.

We were married 51 years ago in St. Louis. I grew up in Webster Groves. My brother Bob introduced me to John while we were in high school.
I met my husband Joe while teaching in California. I introduced him to John at a dinner with several close friends shortly before our weddings. Thereafter for several years we'd get together on our visits to St Louis. We haven't seen John for years, but continued to ask about him and hold him in high regard.
John will remain in our thoughts & prayers.
God bless him!

I was so sorry to hear about John's passing. He was always so warm and friendly....at St. Michael's or Dierbergs where we ran into each other the most. I remember him coming to SSM Physical Therapy at St. Mary's outpatient department, always a smile on his face and ready to "go to work". He will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

My condolences to the entire family. My Mother rarely misses a chance to remind me that I owe my life to John rescuing me from the Meramec River at their clubhouse. Others thought I was swimming, but John knew I was drowning, jumped in and pulled me out. Rest in peace.

Every morning, I would salute John and say sir, yes sir and he would tell me to carry on... I will miss that. He is at peace.
Blessings to all of you as you mourn.
