John E. Gulledge
May 6, 1947 - Sept. 15, 2021
BRISTOL - John E. Gulledge, 74, of Bristol, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on September 15, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center after a brief illness. Born on May 6, 1947 in Lake Forest, IL. He was the son of the late John B Gulledge and Marguerite (Phil) Barto. John grew up in Waukegan, IL with his brother the late Kenneth R. Gulledge and graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1966. On June 3, 1967 John married Donna Kapschull in Deerfield, IL and their adventure began and ended 54 remarkable years later.
They had two children: John C. (Yvonne) Gulledge and Dennis R. (Becky) Gulledge. He has six grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Joshua (Summer) Gulledge, Karissa (Chris) Basham, Cora (Eric) Ciszewski, Sarah (Jonathon) Williams, John P Gulledge, Timothy Gulledge and an honorary grandson, Evan Deal. He was very proud of his great-grandchildren: Jadynn and Hayden Gulledge, Fellicity and Daniel Basham and one that is on its way.
John was employed at Johnson Motors (OMC) in Waukegan IL for 35 years before his retirement. He then spent 15 years with Meyer Engineering all in Quality Control.
Some of his favorite moments were the yearly father and son fishing trips to northern Wisconsin which started in 1977 and the last one he went on was just this summer which was the first time there were 4 generations attending the fishing trip. In his retirement he found a love of UTV riding. He spent many hours this past year on the trails in Vilas County Wisconsin.
When the boys were young, he was one of the Directors of the AWANA Club at the church. He is a current partner at Northbridge Church in Antioch, IL.
He was proud to serve his country in Vietnam during the TET offensive in 1967 – 68.
A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM with a funeral service at 1:00 PM at North Bridge Church, 18724 IL-173, Antioch, IL 60002. Burial to follow at Millburn Cemetery, 18550 County Hwy. A14, Wadsworth, IL 60086. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to North Bridge Church.
