He was one of the most wonderful people I ever knew. We swerved together and after military separation we met up a few times. I moved from the area and lost touch with Jack. I'm sure he continued to be a blessing to everyone around him. He sure was to us in the army.

I served with Jack. We flew out of Chicago to Fort Polk and wound up in the same basic training company. It was a terrible time, a terrible situation, but Jack kept us in stitches. He was just naturally funny, just a joy. We reconnected after service and double dated to Hair, as I recall. I moved away and we lost touch but I never forgot him. Jack made the world brighter. He's the second army buddy I've lost this year and I am so saddened we didn't keep in touch. My loss more than his. What a guy and a brother in arms.

Jack and I lived on Butrick street when we both worked for the North Chicago holiday Inn. We dined on fried mushrooms and onion rings at Friar Tucks and had more fun just meeting people because we were cut from the same mold. I'll miss you my old friend.

Jack was a Classmate of my brother Phil, that’s how I met him.He was an accomplished drummer, and gave me some great tips and a few lessons when I was a young teen.Jack introduced a lot of us to the Citroen car, I had never heard of that one- He owned a couple of those...RIP...

Rarely is there a “remember when” story that Jack Haines’ name doesn’t come up accompanied with a lot of laughter. Jack was, truly, one of the brightest friendships of my life. Rest In Peace, Jack. May God bless the Haines family. My heart felt condolences and prayers to you all.

Jack was a student at Sangamon State University when I taught there. He was a good friend, a fellow progressive, always upbeat. He will be missed.

Jack was one of the most entertaining people I've known. Always laughing or making us laugh. So sorry for his loss but glad he was near his kids for those lady months. RIP

I will no longer associate thunder & lightning with “bad weather”..
I will think of the rolling thunder as laughter resulting from Jack “ holding court” & telling another of one of his “true” stories to humor everyone that would listen.. love & miss you Brother...

I worked with Jack´s brother Jerry at the Bonnie Brook golf course not knowing he was Jerry´s brother until years later when he was running for office and knocked on my door to sign a petitionHe so wanted to turn the old Jewel on Lewis Ave for a place where kids could go and have fun and be safe, a recreational center perhaps. I worked at the Jewel bakery and he would come almost all the way inside the bakery in the electric cart and we would just laugh and he was so funny and he didn´t want to leave and I didn´t want him to leave because he just had that gift to gab as they say.I´m very saddened to hear of his passing. I´m saddened for his brother, my friend Jerry, and his whole family. So glad he moved away from Waukegan and was with his family where he belonged. He was a funny guy and I was very happy to be his friend. I´m going to miss running into you, we always had something to share and mostly it was laughter.
