John A. Haines, 89 Of Media, PA John A. Haines, 89, passed away April 25, 2011 at Riddle Memorial Hospital, Media, PA. Born in Chester, PA, he resided in Brookhaven until moving to Media, PA in 1984. He was a graduate of Chester High School, class of 1940. He worked for Philadelphia Electric Co. for 37 years before his retirement. He loved the beach and was an avid Phillies fan. He loved nothing more than his family and was an extremely proud grandfather and devoted father. He was very active in the Chester High Alumni and was active with the Brookhaven Baptist Church. He was a W.W. II veteran of the U. S. Army. He was the loving husband of Marie Haines for 67 years before her passing in January. He was pre-deceased by his grandson Richard Haines. Survivors: Father of Richard (Patricia) E. Haines of Upper Chichester, William M. Haines of Aston, Jacqueline A. Haines Carhart of Milsboro, De, Kathryn E. Haines Hinde of Media, and Jane (Robert) M. Hines Kulp of Phoenixville, PA; also 8 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service Wednesday 12 Noon at the Bateman Funeral Home, 4220 Edgmont Ave., Brookhaven, Pa, 19015. Visitation Wednesday 10 to 12 Noon at funeral home. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston, PA. Mr. Haines was a big part of my childhood and was one of the nicest men I could ever meet. He loved his kids and his wife and these days is rare. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, he is with his wife Marie and they are continuing their lives together in another place.
