John Halland

Halland, John 9/20/1934 - 2/7/2022 Grand Rapids John Halland, age 87 of Grand Rapids, passed away February 7, 2022. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Gerry; and mother, Alfaretta. John is survived by his children, Mary Lynn, Laura (Bill), John Jr. (Tram), Kurt (Shannon); grandchildren, Kathryn (Mark), Elizabeth (Dan), Kristin (Jack), Brittany, Colleen, Emily, Ashton, Ryann, and Anderson. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Army Reserves. John attended General Motors Institute in Flint, MI; and went on to work in Sales for General Electric. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed swimming competitively in high school, college, in the Army, and at the senior level. Visitation will be 6-8 PM on Friday, February 11, 2022, at O'Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel, 3980 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 AM Saturday, February 12, 2022, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2750 Burton St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Michael Goodwin presiding. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
