HEGE LEWISVILLE John Walter (J.W.) Hege Sept. 28, 1924 - Feb. 4, 2012 John Walter (J.W.) Hege, 87, of Lewisville, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Hege was born on September 28, 1924 to the late John Wesley and Etta Wall Hege in Lewisville, NC. Mr. Hege was raised and worked on the farm until he was 21 when he met the love of his life, Jettie Mae Hicks. They were married on February 21, 1946. John was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Secretary, and Treasurer. Mr. Hege worked for R.J. Reynolds for 36 + years. While at R.J. Reynolds, he traveled to Switzerland, Indonesia, then to mainland China. After retirement, he made two trips into the Canary Islands for R.J. Reynolds. In 1952, he joined Lewisville Fire Department where he rose through the ranks and was Chief for 4 years prior to retirement in 1983 with 31 + years of service. Mr. Hege also worked for the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department as a school crossing guard from 1989 until 1999. Preceding Mr. Hege in death along with his parents are four brothers and sisters, Carl, Luther, Alma, and Aldine and a son-in-law, David Cecile. Surviving Mr. Hege are his wife of 65 years, Jettie Mae Hicks Hege; three daughters, Diana Cecile, Brenda Myers (Wayne), and Jacqueline Gardner (Paul); six grandchildren, David (Leanne Cecile), Scott (Jennifer Cecile), Kenneth Myers, John Myers, Danielle Gardner, and Seth Gardner; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Cecile, Adreanna Myers, and Luke Cecile; and one sister, Della Mae Franklin. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Ottis Hurst and Rev. Randy Wall officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.

Jackie, So sorry for the loss of your dad. Our families have know each other for years, living in the same area. May the God of all comfort hold you and your family close during this time and in the days ahead. Please also let your family know that our family will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. To the Hege Family: I'm so sorry to hear of your loss J.W. was a good man one of the best I know. They don't make men like him anymore. Each of you are in my thoughts and prayers. You know he is in a much better place than we are...walking on streets of gold sitting at the feet of Jesus. What a day that will be!!! If there is anything I can do just let me know.
