Dear Hessling family, you are in my thoughts at this difficult time. I served as a Cavalry Scout with John, and always remember him for his ability to make us laugh at the hard times and ourselves. He was truly a one of a kind Soldier. He will be greatly and sorely missed.

John had been a great leader in the Scout platoon. It was always fun meeting out and about. You will be greatly missed.
