John HEWER Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Jun. 25 to Jul. 2, 2011.

HEWER, John April 9, 1942 - June 4, 2011 John passed away June 4th at 1:20 p.m. at the Arrow Lakes Hospital in Nakusp, B.C. after a long struggle with illness. John was born in Vancouver, B.C. on April 9, 1942 to Jack and Germaine Hewer. He grew up mostly in North Van, very involved in all sports and mischief. He attended Notre Dame University in Nelson, B.C. and majored in Physics. Again many new friends made and continued to see off and on over the years. Also lived at Whistler where he met his wife Kathi and spent days skiing and laughing with all our "Whistler" friends. John and family moved to Nakusp in June 1982 and has been home ever since. God bless all our friends and thank you for their love and support. John loved to travel to Melaque, Mexico and again made many friends there. He will be remembered for his "one line" zingers and his brilliance and his love for the Canucks. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Germaine and sister Jacqueline Willcox. He is survived by his wife Kathi, children Carley (David), Jackson, sisters Janet (Bob Landucci), Joanne Hawkins and Jayne Hewer, nieces Kleo (JD Murray), Ali Landucci and nephews Robbie Landucci and Chad Willcox. No service as requested.

I have just read Johns Obituary, we were sorry to see this obit. I know it has been many years but I do remember the start of your family (John & Kathi and one little one?) in New Westminster. I too was a student at Notre Dame and remember talking to John about that part of our life. Teresa Kelly lived next door to you and we were the second house down. These were good memories and we often wondered how you did after leaving here. Your old neighbours Lorne & Sybil Collett
