John Rowe Huggins

Huggins, John Rowe 84, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2019 at his home in Flushing, MI. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Rossell Funeral Home. Reverend John King will officiate. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 13 at Rossell Funeral Home and 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the St. Robert Tuition Scholarship Fund or the Flushing Christian Outreach Center. John was born on April 24, 1935 to Oscar Lawrence and MaryAnn (Rowe) Huggins and has happily spent his entire life in Flushing, MI. He played high school football, baseball, and basketball. John went on to graduate from Flint Junior College and attended the University of Michigan. He worked for over 25 years in accounting at GM before retirement. He married Kay Elizabeth (Sobey) Huggins on September 8, 1962. They raised their daughter, Elizabeth, and three grandchildren together. John enjoyed planting Christmas pine trees, working on his tractors, spending time outdoors after retirement, and was also an avid WWII aficionado. He also spent time travelling with his wife, Kay, whenever possible. During their travels they visited every state in the country and were able to visit their favorite state Alaska three times as well as a visit to Europe. He is survived by his wife, Kay Elizabeth Huggins; daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Nordman) Terry and son-in-law, James Arthur Terry, Sr.; honorary daughter, Angela Foley; three grandchildren, Emily Nordman, Grace Nordman, and James Arthur Terry II; as well as best friend, Richard Buell and his best friends from GM, Bruce Bunn and Wayne Balenger. John joins his mother and father, MaryAnn and Oscar Lawrence Huggins; his aunt, Evelyn Phillips; in-laws, Eleanor (Cubbitt - Mesack) Sobey and William Arthur Sobey I; and his cousins, Jerry Rowe, Jim Rowe, and Marilyn Gromburg in Heaven.
