"To God Be the Glory...." The Jameson Family rejoices at the homegoing of their beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Coleman Jameson.

Funeral services for John Jameson, 90, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview, with pastor and longtime friend, Dr. Laney Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The oldest of five children, John was born October 27, 1916, in Stuttgart, Ark., to Henry Chester and Myrtle Dovie Mullins Jameson. He graduated from Prairie Point School (Prairie Valley) and attended North Texas Agricultural College (now UTA-Arlington). Mr. Jameson served as a volunteer fireman for Grand Prairie during his early years. While working at North American Aviation in Grand Prairie from 1941-1945, Mr. Jameson was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Force. Following conclusion of basic training at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, John was assigned to Squadron 8, 353rd Army Air Force, serving his country as a corporal at Esler Field in Alexandria, La., until his discharge at Fort Bliss in El Paso in late 1946.

John returned to civilian life as an employee of RG. LeTourneau (Marathon LeTourneau). Following 38 years of faithful employment, Mr. Jameson retired as foreman of the tool and die department.

John Jameson passionately loved his Lord and Savior, serving Him with faithfulness and obedience. He had been an active deacon at Mobberly Baptist Church since 1947. Additionally, he worked on the Teller Committee for the church for 59 years. John was a Master Mason in good standing for more than 60 years, most recently at the Grand Lodge of Texas, Pine Tree No. 1396.

John Jameson will be remembered for his genuine and gentle nature. His selfless generosity ensured he habitually thought of others and how he might serve them.

Mr. Jameson was an avid outdoorsman who enjoying hunting, fishing, gardening and yard work. He especially enjoyed loving his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. Jameson to heaven were both parents; granddaughter, Rhea Sanders; brother-in-law, Victor Morton; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Charles and Jean Hurlburt.

Mr. Jameson is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sarah Ruth Nutting Jameson; sons, David Coleman Jameson of Longview, and John Michael and wife, Jamie Jameson of White Oak; daughters, Frances Lynne and husband, Artie Sanders of Midlothian, and Marjorie Ann and husband, Les Miller of Tyler; sister, Ida Mae Morton of Weatherford; brothers, Malvy and wife, Lu Jameson of Austin, Charles Lee Jameson of Arkadelphia, Ark., and Chet and wife, Ednita Jameson of Raleigh, N.C.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. Rice and Eloise Nutting of Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Gil and wife, Preet Sanders of Arlington, Jason Jameson of Longview, Jeff and wife, Katy Jameson of Paris, Jonathan and wife, Jennifer Jameson of Allen, Christy Eddington, Dewayne Jameson of White Oak, Angie and husband, Bryan Woolley of Tyler, Tonia Miller of Mesquite, Stephanie and husband, David Cobb of Irving, Mitzi and husband, Wes Hood of Houston, and Ginger and husband, Blair Swaim of Tulsa, Okla.; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jason, Jeff, Jonathan and Dewayne Jameson; Bryan Woolley; Gil Sanders; David Cobb; Wes Hood; and Blair Swaim.

Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Mobberly Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in John Jameson's memory may be made to Mobberly Baptist Church, 625 E. Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605; or a charity of your choice.

Family visitation is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. this evening, May 11, 2007, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview.
