John (Jay) W. Cosco

John (Jay) W. Cosco, 85, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, in Vero Beach, Florida, a place he lovingly referred to as "God's Country." Born on May 13, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, Jay's life was marked by his vibrant personality and boundless generosity.

Jay attended Our Lady of Grace in Chelsea, Massachusetts, before continuing his education at BC High School and Graduating from Boston College. He proudly served in the National Guard and started his family in Massachusetts in the 1960s before moving to South Florida in the early 1970s.

Professionally, Jay was a businessman, having spent many years at the helm of his own company in the construction and interior decorating industry.

Jay's personal life was filled with the joy of family and friends. He is survived by his son, John W. Cosco of Atlanta; daughter, Laura O'Toole of Singer Island, FL (Brian & Randolph NJ); grandson, Jack O'Toole of Hoboken, NJ; granddaughter, Avari Taylor of Miami; ex-wife and lifelong friend, Joan Cosco of Atlanta; brother, Ken Cosco of Vero Beach, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa M. Cosco; his parents, John W. Cosco and Genevieve Cosco; his sister, Ginger McIlroy; and his longtime partner, Mary Ferraro.

Jay was a true baseball enthusiast who loved his Boston Red Sox and cherished watching games and socializing with friends. His larger-than-life personality meant he never met a stranger and viewed everyone as a potential friend.

A private celebration of life will be held in Vero Beach, Florida, on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Jay's legacy of warmth and generosity will be forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
