John "Jay" Coutu Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 23, 2025.
July 25, 1959 - May 11, 2025

John Michael "Jay" Coutu, 65, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2025, doing what he loved most-fishing. A lifelong lover of the outdoors and a man of kindness, Jay brought warmth and a witty sense of humor to everyone he met, whether human or animal.

Born on July 25, 1959, Jay was the son of the late Louisette LeBrun Coutu and Rudolph "Rudy" Coutu. He was born in Nashua and educated in Nashua Schools. He was especially proud of the time he spent in Catholic schools, and always had plenty of stories. In later years, he rediscovered his faith which brought him great peace and joy.

Jay was known for his generosity, his spirit, and a twinkle in his eye that never faded. Jay had a deep love for music and was an accomplished harmonica player. Nothing made him happier than jumping up on stage for an impromptu harmonica solo. He was also an avid woodworker, often crafting beautiful walking sticks that became treasured gifts to family and friends. When Jay wasn't fishing, he enjoyed riding his bike, card tricks, exploring nature, and finding peace in life's simple pleasures, especially the ocean.

Jay is survived by his sister, Donna Ritter-Kordik (and husband Jeff), his brother, David Coutu (and significant other Tiffany Routhier), his son, Joseph Coutu, and his dear friend Elizabeth "Libby" Ferreira. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a granddaughter. He also leaves behind his faithful feline companion, Lucky.

Besides his parents, Jay was predeceased by his brother Mark "Buster" Coutu and his sister, Susan Bellavance.

Jay's presence will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His memory lives on in every sunrise over still water, every gentle note of music, and in the hearts of those who loved him.

As Jay would always say: Peace out.
