I met John in 1965 at SIU when he was playing with Gary, Jon, Jerry & Peter in the Nite Owls. I still have a copy of the record they cut. We were good friends back then and I continued to catch up with John when he moved to Chicago. He was a wonderful musician and a good friend. Along with very good memories he will be thought of often and fondly.

Jerry Meyer,
I spent the last forty years with your presence always there. Not quite sure what to do now. It's like losing your arm and your dog at the same time - but worse. Your music will and does live on. "there ain't no piano like it, anywhere I've found. . . And that's the truth. I'm sure going to miss you JJ. Amen.

Very sorry to learn of John's passing from Terry Ogolini (Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows, Chicago R and B Kings); in Chicago the radio is playing Aliotta, Jeremiah and Haynes' 'Lake Shore Drive' repeatedly. Peace, brother.

Jim, Tim, Susan, and all your families:
I'm so sorry to learn of John's death. I used to listen to his music, constantly, and had such a great time with all of you (and Del...rest her soul, too), when we went to Stonehenge, in Lebanon, IL to hear John, and the "Acme Thunder Band." I'll never forget that...ever!
Much love and sympathy to all, Darla (Stoffel)
