John “Johnny” Porter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 21, 2025.
John "Johnny" David Porter, born on August 18, 1967, passed away in his sleep on July 12, 2025, at the age of 57 in Phoenix, AZ .

His legacy includes his wife and love of his life of 37 years, Becky, and their daughters Nathalie, Kimberlie, Kayleigh, and Lyndsey. Johnny was a cherished "Pop" to grandchildren Abbigail, Riley, Jacob, Melody, Isabelle, Emmalee, Isaiah, Becky, and Zoey. He was a respected father-in-law to Matthew and Eric. He is survived by his brothers Richard and Tim, his sisters Mindy and Melissa, nephew and "little brother" Richard and many, many more nieces and nephews that he loved. He was preceded in death by his grandson Rowan E. Cottrell, father and mother Richard W. and Linda Porter, and his brothers Larry, Steve, and Tommy Porter.

Johnny was a man full of surprises, laughs, and life lessons. He was a man of music and played anything he could touch with an emphasis on bass and guitar. He was a martial artist and avid reader with a keen interest in history, westerns, and philosophy. He loved to play games, take chances, and push life to its limit. He was a unique man with a heart of gold. We have seen him give the shoes off his feet and shirt off his back to someone in need. He valued family, respect, honor, and keeping one's dignity. He was a tough man who always had a soft spot for his girls. As he aged his role switched from protective father to protective "Pop". He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed sharing his passion of music and life with them. Two paragraphs could never embody the greatness of Johnny, Dad, "Pop" and many other names that he would've been called.

His life was marked by the love he shared with his family and the passions that enriched his existence. Johnny's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to meet him. He will be missed everyday but his memory and legacy will live on.

I love you, Dad. I miss you and no words will ever bring you back or describe the emptiness I feel now that you´re gone. I already see how much of you lives on in us. You were the craziest, loving, and most proud dad. I know you know, foolio. I´ll always be your coconut.
