John Preston Johnson (Speedy Sparrow) praised his way to Heaven on December 5, 2014. He was born on April 21, 1931. He was a hard worker all his life retiring after 29 years from the Permian Corporation and retired after 16 years as a bus driver for the Midland Independent School District He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and brothers, J. B. Sadler and Robert Williams. Two children, Vida Louise Johnson and Terry Don Johnson. He is survived by his children, Theresa Fields (Clarence) of Odessa, TX; Nelia Mae Lambus of Denver, CO; Teresa Yvette Hooper (Patrick "P.R.") of Roby, TX; Deborah Gale Pride (Thomas) of Midland, TX; Dorothy Yvonne King (Carlos B.) of Arlington, TX; Jerrell "J.J." Johnson (Laura) of Midland, TX; and Yolanda Cannon (Mike) of Midland, TX; 20 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. Viewing will be Thursday afternoon 1:00-5:00PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Services will be Friday, 1:00PM at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth G. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Thomas Funeral Home.
