John Lester Kilby, Jr., 90, of Troutville, formerly of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. J. L. was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Elva N. Kilby; his parents, John Lester Kilby, Sr. and Mamie Scott Kilby; and a sister, Frances K. Jacobs. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Mardee Kilby of Daleville; three grandchildren, Beth Kelley (Matt), Lauren Spencer (Phillip) and Jay Kilby (Jessica); and six great grandchildren, Audrey, Bennett and Caroline Kelley, Kendall Spencer, Emma and Jack Kilby; and a sister, Mary Lee Poe.
J.L. was a member of the Troutville Baptist Church and for many years Culpeper Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Washington Nationals, and enjoyed country music.
Funeral services will be at Clore-English Funeral Home in Culpeper at 11:00AM on Saturday, November 11, 2017 with visitation preceding the service at 10:00AM. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Troutville Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 309, Troutville, VA 24175.
