I AM SO SORRY FOR THE FAMILYS LOSS. I MET JOHN LAMBERT WHILE IN THE ACADEMY. HE WAS NOT MY FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR, BUT HE WAS INDEED THE PERSON WE CALLED THE MIRACLE WORKER. I HAD NEVER HELD A FIRMARM BEFORE, LET ALONE NEEDED TO QUAILFY WITH ONE. MY INSTRUCTOR WAS HARD ON ME AND I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME LEARNING. MY INSTRUCTOR DID NOT MAKE IT ONE MORNING WHEN I WAS IN remedial AND OFC LAMBERT STEPPED RIGHT IN. HE TOLD ME TO RELAX AND DO SOME DEEP BREATHING. HE WAS SO KIND AND PLEASANT. BY THE GRACE OF GOD I PASSED WITH FLYING COLORS. HE WAS TRULY HEAVEN SET. NOW HE HAS RETURNED HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD. BE BLESSED FAMILY AND FRIENDS

I first met Officer Lambert while I was in the Houston Police Academy during the summer of 2011. He was my firearms instructor. He was very patient and knew everything about a handgun that one can possibly know, regardless of the type. Before it was announced that he was ill I had just saw him at the police academy and he appeared just fine. I was shocked to hear of him being ill and him passing. Officer Lambert, may you rest in Peace. May God give your family the strength.

I was saddened to hear about John. He was one of my instructors at the Police Academy almost 20 years ago. When I would go back to the academy for in-service training, I would go visit with him. I have always valued his friendship and the guidance he provided for both my work and my personal life. He will be missed.

So thankful that God brought John and Sharon Lambert into my life almost 40 years ago. John and Sharon have been as close to my heart as any brother or sister. Thru the years they have both seen me at my worst and at my best and supported me thru both. I always knew if I needed them, they would be there. It is hard to imagine life without John around.......someone to laugh with, argue with and pick back and forth. I so miss John; but my separation from John and others is only for a fleeting moment. One day I too will get to see my Savior and enjoy all the wonders of Heaven just like my friend John and other loved ones are doing at this very moment. I will cherish all the memories that I have of this fine man; and look forward to seeing him on my trip to Glory. I pray that Sharon, Stephanie, Eddie and Ethan will experience a tremendous outpouring of God's love, blessings and comfort in the days to come.

I've known Officer John Lambert since our Academy days. He was in the class after me. John was a true friend and colleague. We usually saw him once or twice a year to qualify. We would spend about an hour just talking about HPD, and also how he planned on spending his retirement. He was a very patient man, a man of his word, honest and religious. He loved his family. I could not have asked for a better friend. God may you give this family peace knowing we have John in heaven watching over all of us. Our condolences go out to his family. May God Bless You.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I met Officer Lambert over 17 years ago. Like many, I was a cadet and had never shot a gun before. I knew you wanted to throw your hands up, but you never did. I knew there was something different about you. God never gave up on you, and in return, you never gave up on me. I will always remember your beautiful smile! May God grant strength to your family during this difficult time.

John was, by far, one of the kindest people I have been blessed to work with at HPD. His gentle, encouraging nature made him very effective as an instructor and very easy to trust and befriend. We will definitely miss him at HPD. Prayers for God's grace and comfort to John's family (blood and blue) as John is in our father's home now.
