LARATTA, John Battista
October 10, 1930 - March 16, 2015
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, John Laratta on March 16, 2015 at the age of 84 years. John, founder of Laratta Homes, lived life with optimism, integrity and respect and as a result he attracted success in relationships and business. John was an inspirational father, a loving husband, and adoring grandpa. He is survived by Maria, his wife of 57 years; his children: Rosanna, Aldo (Linda), and Tony (Melaney); his grandchildren: Olivia, Sofia, Thea, Laila, Dante; and numerous family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Luke's Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Drive NW) on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Drive NW) on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 10:30 am, with the Rev. David Meadows, presider. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with John's family through www.evanjstrong.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's name to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary (201, 222 – 58 Avenue SW, Calgary, Alberta, T2H 2S3; telephone (403) 290-0110; website: www.alzheimercalgary.ca). Mrs. Laratta, Rosanna, Tony, Aldo and families. From the first day I met Mr. Laratta, he reminded me of my father. Smiling, always in a good mood, always asking me how I was doing and how things are going. I know how hard this is for all of you. I hope that you can take solace in that he may be gone in body but he is now free and he will always be in our hearts. It still evokes a smile every time I remember one of the stories Aldo or Tony shared with us over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Dear Auntie Mary, Rosanna, Aldo, Tony and cousins. Wishing you much love. The days ahead will be difficult but you can find strength and comfort in the love you have for each other. Uncle John was a wonderful man and you guys were his true pride and joy. He is at peace now and is smiling down from heaven.
"Batti" was a fantastic Uncle to us. He had an infectious enthusiasm and always seemed so genuinely happy to see us. He saw the bright side of everything and in everyone. His work ethic and joy of life was second to none. He was always excited to go to work and always excited to go back home. He loved my terrible jokes and had a great laugh! He really did live life to the fullest and he set such a fine example for all of us.
He is truly going to be missed. We have so many happy wonderful memories of him. God Bless you guys and hang in there.
