John Reynard Lawrence, "J.R.", was born on September 22, 1965 in Kansas City, Missouri and went home to the Lord on March 14, 2012.

John grew up on Air Force bases from Florida to California. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1983 and then served his country in the United States Army, Infantry. After his service, John received a technical degree from MTI, then continued his education to receive his Bachelor Degree from UHCL. For the last 12 years, John worked as an educator, most of which was spent with the Alvin Independent School District. He spent his last years as an elementary school counselor which he considered his "favorite job ever", while continuing his education in a graduate program at UHCL. John leaves lasting memories for all of his students and faculty. Anyone who knew J.R. recognized his witty personailty and sense of humor. He loved to sing, garden and perform magic tricks. He also adored his dogs, Feebee, Bandit and Buddy. However, his family was his world. He touched the lives of many with his charm and humor. J.R. was a caring, sensitive person that will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loved ones: Mother, Sherrill Lawrence of Dickinson, Texas, Father, L.J. Lawrence of Pittsburg, Texas;two sisters, Jill Kohlhafer and husband Gye, of Dickinson, Jackie Rouineb and her husband Gerard, of Kemah, Texas; nephews Kyle Kohlhafer, Ryan and Adam Rouineb; Aunt and cousins of Schenectady, NY; Patti Kloss-Lawrence of Friendswood, Texas.

John is preceded in death by his grandparents Reynard and Mary Lawrence, and Barton and Janet Williams; niece, Layla Rouineb.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to celebrate his life on Tuesday, March 20 at 10:00 a.m. Services will be held in the chapel at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598.

JR was a beautiful person inside and out. I will treasure the time I got to work with him. His love and passion for children and his job will forever live on through the lives he touched. A true friend with loyalty and love for all! The kind of guy who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. I will miss his humor and bright smile the most!!

My dear cousin JR. We didn't see each other much because we lived so far away. When we did see each other the time between did not seem to matter. It was like we lived next door. It was always so comfortable around you. I was so looking forward to seeing you this summer. I know I will see you again someday. Hopefully you will be playing golf with gramps and hanging out with grams and performing magic tricks for Layla. My girls always remember your magic tricks and how you said your name with your southern drawl. I will see you again. I wish I had made more time for you while you were here with us. It's not fair that you left us so soon. You will be close to my heart forever. You were the kind of person that you could feel close to even without talking that much or seeing you that often. Love you forever, your cousin Laura

Sherry, Jill, Jackie, and Families, Miles separate us, but not the memories that I have of all of you from years ago. JR was one of the most beautiiful little boys I had ever seen, and as he got older, he would visit me when in Schenectady. How I enjoyed those visits. I am so deeply sorry for this great loss for all of you, and no amount of words could convey how much I care. I pray that you have the strength to get through this, and that your wonnderful memories of your son, brother, uncle, and friend sustain you. Love to all of you, Rozanne

I know this is so hard to wrap your arms around this. Sherry, you have family and friends who love you very much. We all said how strong you are. No, we don't understand as to why. But, know that God loves you and your family. We hurt for you too. If there is anything you need please don't hesitate. God Bless You and take care.
