Leman, Jr.
1963-2021

November 30, 2021
John "Geeb" Walthal Leman, Jr. passed peacefully at his Jamaica Beach home on November 30, 2021, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Preceded in death by his mother, June Jacobs Leman, Geeb is survived by his pride and joy, John Walthal Leman III (whom he affectionately called "my boy"), his father and best hunting buddy, John W. Leman (Suzanne), three younger brothers, Arthur "Rusty" Leman, Charles "Chip" Leman (Lara), Thomas "Stink" Leman (Jennifer), nephews CJ and Thomas Leman, Jr. and nieces Carolynn, Lillian, and Mary Barrett Leman, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who became family.
Born February 24, 1963, in Houma, Louisiana, Geeb spent most of his life in Texas, graduating from Baytown Sterling and working in the family company Southwest Oilfield Products as Production Foreman. Galveston was his home for many years where he fished daily, guided charters, won tournaments and proudly earned the name "Mr. West Bay." Mostly spotted wading around San Luis Pass or racing across the bay with his boat full of dogs, Geeb was known for making fishing look easy, posing with the fish he caught and towing in fellow boaters in need. Fishing and hunting were his passions and he loved teaching others. Geeber had the kindest heart; always there for friends and family. He never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back with some fish out of his freezer.
Family and friends are invited to tell their best Geeb stories at a celebration of his life at Carnes Funeral Home 1201 23rd Street Rear, Galveston on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 1:00 PM.
