Karen and I just learned tonight that we all lost John, a tremendous man, a wonderful friend to those fortunate to get to know him, a gifted entrepreneur, a visionary in the lighting industry and a man dedicated to helping all of us get better at what we do.
John had the gift to make each friend/customer feel like they were his favorite.
It was a gut punch tonight when we learned of his passing.
Mary Lou, you are front and center on our prayer list. We love you, we love your family and we believe John will only make Heaven better for all.
RIP my friend.

John was a source of light and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Despite the struggles he faced during these last few months, he managed to still be humorous. He also never lost his capacity to be kind and to show love. One of my last memories of John was him repeatedly saying thank you to me. It was humbling to witness, as I knew I should´ve been the one to thank him for all the ways in which he´s changed my life for the better. I will miss him dearly, but I am grateful to have known him and to have our wonderful memories that will stay with me forever.

With Love and Gratitude,
Yandeh

Years ago John was talking with my sales team when one of them asked a very pointed question about what he was going to do regarding a particular problem we were experiencing. John quietly reached into his shirt pocket and asked, "What's your name?" In a wonderfully restrained and comedic moment, he implied that this person should mind their own business. It caught me off guard and made me laugh out loud. After the meeting, of course, John resolved the issue. Subtle genius!

John was one of the nicest people I have ever met. I always felt welcome when entering the Capital showroom in Dallas. It didn't take long to see that John and his whole family had a warmth about them that made you feel comfortable. I will always remember that. I know that John gave his all to his family without question as does Mary Lou. It's what fathers and mothers do when there is a strong family bond like yours. John's time has come but as his family you will always have is strength and love forever! I truly miss you guys!
All the best, Ron

I met John over 20 years ago when I desperately needed to represent a quality line named Capital Lighting Fixtures. Over time, I realized that I was so blessed to meet John and his wonderful family and sincerely enjoyed my time with them all. John was kind, honest and was very meticulous with his thoughts. On occasion, he would think about a decision and get back to me with the correct direction to take. He and I were not only business associates, as we were dear friends. I last saw him in early March 2021 in Dallas when I announced my retirement from after 50 years in the lighting industry. That goodbye was so special to both of us and will never be forgotten. John and Mary Lou were always so kind to me, and most important, John taught me to be a good listener. I have met a few great individuals in my lifetime that have left great impressions on me. John was Number One and will be dearly missed by me and many others.

I'll never forget how we began working together, starting with only about 10-12 decorative fixtures. They made a wonderful company, with the best employees and reps in the industry. I'm PROUD to be a Capital Rep. The best company I have ever been associated with, and it is all because of John's sweetness and caring self. He instilled trust and solid relationships. John will be greatly missed by me, and my customers and my employees -new and past. We Love You John, you are a wonderful soul. You left us in good hands. MaryLou, I'm so sorry you had to go thru these past years watching his decay, and I can't image the pain you went thru. I'm glad this journey is over for you, and you can treasure your good memories of him. Love you All. You are Family.

I am honored and blessed to have known John. He put so much care and thought into everything he did and that care and thought extended to people around him, including myself.

I had the pleasure of working with John for many years and watched his business grow. Beyond our professional relationship, John took interest in my family and invited me and my daughter to Georgia Tech football and basketball games when learning my daughter had an interest in Georgia Tech and engineering.

I´ll always remember John for the wonderful person that he was. My thoughts and prayers are with John, his family, and his friends.

My Condolences for the Lewis Family.. John was one of the Greatest Men I ever had the Honor of knowing. He was so influential to everyone he came in contact with: Leadership, Wisdom, Integrity, Fairness and Vision are just a few traits that he possessed. His Best Gift was the Love he displayed for Mary Lou, Leslie, John Austin and all his Grandchildren. He was truly a Kind Wonderful Man who cared about his Employees, Customers and Reps. He touched the lives of many. He will be truly missed and his Legacy will Live on Forever. Prayers for the Family.
