John Lewis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 21 to Jan. 22, 2023.
John William Lewis went to be with the Lord on January 20, 2023. He is survived by the following: his beloved wife Anne Bailey Lewis; his wonderful daughters Lynn W. Buehler and Anne L. Jernigan, as well as their husbands Martin (Chip) and Brian; his sister Suzanne L. Brown; his beloved grandchildren Anne Batliner and husband Jason, Sutton White and Caroline Buehler; and his great-grandchildren Huntley and Fulton Batliner. He was predeceased by his parents Murner and Ruby Lewis and beloved Bichon, Princess.

John was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy and the University of Richmond. A service celebrating his life and glorifying God will be held at Westminster Canterbury Richmond on January 30th at 11:00 am followed by a reception. John loved God, his family and country above all.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made to two organizations close to John's heart: The Faith Foundation (203 Hollyport Rd., Richmond, VA 23229-7620), which provides a loving home for orphaned children in Cambodia, or the Richmond SPCA (2519 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, VA 23220).

Dear Anne and family, I´m very sorry to hear about John´s death. Another southern gentleman gone to heaven. I fondly remember our "Wheaties" days here in Rocky Mount. I suspect he and JO and AG are swapping stories. I know your faith and family will see you through. Fondly, Kathy Ingram
