John Lindenschmidt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 6, 2025.
John Lindenschmidt, 69, of Carmel, Indiana, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord on May 5th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 22nd, 1955, in Indianapolis to Robert and Mary Lou Lindenschmidt, John's journey began with a foundation of faith that would guide him throughout his life. After graduating from Chartard High School in 1974, he continued his education at Purdue University, where he was a part of the Triangle fraternity. John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry, graduating in 1979... Boiler Up!

In 1998, driven by his unwavering principles, John founded RMS Safety with the core values of using business as "a tool to glorify God and serve others" as its cornerstone. Under his visionary leadership ("The Grandfather of Safety"), the company became a respected industry leader, touching countless lives through its commitment to workplace safety and professional excellence. Today, RMS Safety continues to thrive as a nationwide safety consulting firm, and still remains true to its founding values. John's business acumen was matched only by his genuine care for his employees and clients, creating a legacy of service that extends far beyond the workplace.

John found his loving companion in Valerie, whom he married on April 23rd, 2010. They recently celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary, a testament to their beautiful partnership and shared devotion to family. Together, they crafted a life filled with love and laughter, spending the last eight years splitting their time between their home in Indiana and their special haven in Florida. There, they built cherished memories with their best friends and community, fishing, boating, golfing, and most importantly, sharing their paradise with loved ones.

A man of deep faith, remarkable resilience, and quick wit, John was known for his steadfast commitment to Christ and his wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor that brightened even the darkest days. John was nicknamed "the miracle man" by those closest to him for his unwavering persistence and remarkable ability to overcome challenges. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and cherished moments spent on his back patio, watching the sunset over Tampa Bay or at home looking over the golf course with loved ones by his side. As a devoted believer, John lived out his values of Faith, Family, and Fellowship, and his greatest wish was for all to "rejoice in the Lord always, I say rejoice" (Philippians 4:4).

John is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie; children, Matt Lindenschmidt and Alli Curtis (Sam), who are expecting John's first granddaughter this fall, Amelia; son, Adam Hensley (Laura) and grandson, Harrison; brother, Robert Lindenschmidt (Elsa); niece, Kelsey Laverriere (Greg); nephew, Evan Lindenschmidt (Chelsea) and Sam and Emma; uncle, Dickie Keil (Mary); and brother-in-law, Dennis Ittenbach (Alex). He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Lou Lindenschmidt, and his dear sister, Ann Ittenbach.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 13th at Zionsville Presbyterian Church (4775 W 116th St, Zionsville, IN 46077). Visitation will begin at 2:30pm followed by a service at 4:00pm. In honor of John's spirit, the family requests attendees forego traditional dressy black attire and instead dress in a way that celebrates his life and joy.

As a family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible community that loved John. We invite you to join us in continuing to live life as John did with unwavering faith, genuine love for family, and meaningful fellowship, ensuring his remarkable legacy lives on through each of us.

In lieu of flowers, and in alignment with John's wishes, memorial contributions can be made to the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center to Harry's PBR Fund for Lung Cancer Research, established in honor of Harry, John's best friend since they were 5 years old. It was great to see John and Val two weeks ago at the Savannah wedding of his niece Kelsey. In visiting with John for an extended period during the event he was in good spirits as we lamented over the traditional challenges of growing old.

His passing reminds us all of just how fragile life can be .......

Our deepest condolences to his wife Val, his brother Bob, and the rest of his family.

We were so sorry to hear of Lindy's passing. Lindy was Wyndham's fraternity brother at Purdue and a groomsman in our wedding. We have so many wonderful warm memories of the handsome charming man that we loved. Many memories from Purdue and at the river house with Harry, as well as at his family home with the pool. He was a wonderful man and a good friend, gone far too soon. Sure hope he and Harry are sharing old times over a few PBRs.

Val - I'm so sorry to hear about John's passing. During my time at RMS, I came to deeply respect and appreciate him-not only as a leader but also as a friend. He was always incredibly supportive of me and my family, and he truly championed a healthy work-life balance that allowed me to be present for my daughter. I´ll always remember his warm smile and his genuine encouragement-he even reached out just a few weeks ago with kind words about a recent professional milestone. John made a lasting impact on me and so many others, both personally and professionally.

John was one of those very special people that I was blessed to have met and share time with in my life. I was one of John's early hires at RMS and we remained friends after I moved to Colorado. Even after more then 25 years, I thought of him often and we'd talk every once in a while. He always smiled and was happy to talk with me. I'm sad that we all lost a very special friend, mentor, and genuinely kind soul. My prayers to his family and friends. I hope we can celebrate his life and gifts to the world.

I met John and Val at my nephew´s wedding in 2021. We stayed together in an air B&B with my sister, brother-in-law, my son and his wife. We drank ate and laughed a lot. John and Val made a lasting impression of incredible human beings! I had the chance to have a very heartfelt conversation with John after everyone retired for the evening. I will never forget that moment. I believe John is with our Lord. I pray for all the family and friends who will be missing John. Rest in peace!

John was always smiling, always willing to talk when walking his two dogs, or just sitting watching the beautiful views of Tampa Bay from his patio. He and Valerie have many friends here in Florida, and John will be missed but never forgotten, for his friendly, and kind personality. Valerie and John's family will be surrounded with love and support from family and friends as they go forth with their journey in life.... recalling loving and fun memories of John, and relishing in the knowledge he lives on thru them and Christ our Lord.
