John MacFall Obituary

Published by San Diego Union-Tribune on May 11, 2014.
MacFall, John CARDIFF -- John MacFall left this world on May 4th, 2014 with his wife and sons by his side. He was born in La Jolla in May of 1944 and lived there until moving to North County where he attended Rancho Santa Fe Elementary, San Dieguito High School (Class of '61), and later Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He spent his life working at his hobby, Architecture, which he loved. He also spent some years building houses. He was active in Cardiff serving as president of the Little League in the 1980s and was a member, and then chair of, the Cardiff Advisory Board in the 1990s. As a younger man, he loved his golf and always enjoyed traveling. He was known for his sense of humor and dedication. He is survived by his wife of 43 years and high school sweetheart, Sara; sons, Chris, Jeffrey, Rob and Joel; and daughter, Gena; as well as seven grandchildren; and sister, Mary Lou in South Carolina. He will be laid to rest at El Camino Memorial Cemetery in Sorrento Valley. He will be missed by us all, but never forgotten.

My sister Sandy sent this up to me in Paso Robles knowing that John and I went to school together from Rancho to San Dieguito. We lost track of each other after college as I moved north and he stayed in north county. All I can say is we grew up at a great time when people and cars were few and life was much simpler. Sorry we lost track of each other but it sounds like you made the most of north county. Good bye John.
