John Madiedo Obituary

Published by TBO.com on Apr. 18, 2016.
, 65, a longtime resident of the Tampa Bay Area, passed away Friday, April 15th, 2016 with his family and friends by his side. John was born in Tampa, Florida on July 11th, 1950. He was predeceased by his mother Frances Madiedo and his father John Frank Madiedo, Sr. John is survived by his loving wife Debra Sue (34 years), his son Joseph Angelo, son Christopher Michael, and daughter Mary Stella, and his grandchildren Isabella, Johnathon and Arya. He is also survived by many other family members and close friends. Being a Tampa native, John attended St. Joseph's Catholic School before going to Jesuit and graduating from Berkely Prep. After receiving a scholarship to play baseball at Florida State University where he also earned an MBA in risk management. After working his way up in the insurance industry he opened the doors to his agency with his wife Debbie in 1983. He became an insurance industry leader while focusing on public livery and taxicabs. As a Tampa businessman and native he remained active in the community by serving as part of various organizations donating his time and focus to whoever needed it. He was a former Baron and King of the Krewe of Sant 'Yago. He served many years on the board at the Italian Club of Tampa. Like his father he was also a member of the West Tampa Optimist Club. He stayed an active alumni of FSU by joining the Seminole Boosters as a Golden Chief. He donated his time to many catholic organizations throughout his life as well. He worked to help St. Joseph's Catholic school stay alive and continue to be a place where kids can get a religious education. He is an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. More important than all of the things he was involved with was the time he put towards his friends and family. He devoted his life to making sure everyone around him was happy. He was usually a bright spot in any room he was in and could make anyone feel like a close friend or family. He had an infectious sense of humor and always smiled in any situation. A visitation will be held on Monday April 18 from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary service held at 7 p.m. at Blount and Curry FH (605 S. MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609). John was my crazy cousin, friend, sometimes father, and mentor. He was the one person to direct my life to becoming a RN. My life in the O.R. stands at 37 years! I always made sure he knew what he meant to me. I loved him so very much. I know he is with Jesus, his mom, dad, my mom and dad , debbies mom, and all the tias tios and cousins that have gone before us. He is at peace full of joy and happiness. We will see him again and I cannot wait! Debbie, Joe, Mary & Chris I love you all and my heart is broken for you all. Remember the Lord is the only one who can heal and comfort your heart. John will always be apart of all of you and of us...we are family!!

WOW! Life sometimes does crazy things and this one is crazy. The Lord took John way to young and we can now know he will be looking down on us all. John was a friend and a competitor, however a man of his word. I pray for the entire Family and Friends at this time of grief.

John was taken much to young. His impact on Tampa, the Krewe of the Knights of Sant' Yago, his friends and, most of all, his family, will last forever. Rest in Peace, John. My condolences to the family.

John will be deeply missed by all the lives he enriched! He definitely was an optimist, which made him a joy to be around. He was one of the most generous people I know with his time and all the wonderful deeds that he did for his family and friends. There aren't enough accolades that can be bestowed on one of God's special children!!! He'll be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers to his wonderful family. Another bright star in the sky.

God bless, Frank Iannarelli
