John Madigan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 11, 2022.
We are sad to announce the passing of John Thomas Madigan (1963-2022) of Astoria, Queens. John passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the age of 59.

A long-time resident of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, John was proud to have served his country in the Marine Corp. John is predeceased by his father George H Madigan, and mother Ann Marie Calby. He is survived by his 8-year-old twin daughters Kylie Marie and Khloe Ann, his brother Kevin, (Connie), his sister Kathleen, his cousin Michael Chrostowski (Maria), and numerous nephews, cousins, a niece, and former brother-in-law Darryl Damore.

John was a proud and doting father and his daughters were the love of his life. Besides spending time with Kylie and Khloe he enjoyed listening to music and was a classic movie buff often quoting lines verbatim. He was most comfortable spending time with family and friends. John had a larger-than-life personality and his presence and humor would fill any room. His ability to tell stories and make people laugh was unmatched and his smiling, blue-eyed face will be greatly missed.

John was a graduate of St. Francis College, Brooklyn where he received a degree in Film and also worked as a substitute teacher for the NYC Department of Education.

A memorial mass will be held in the Spring.

Did John go to Mount Assumption Institute in Plattsburgh for a year? If so, he was my roommate. Very sad to hear of his passing.

To my Uncle John,
It´s been a while since I saw you. Most times I saw you was when I was a little girl. I´m 25 now and I remember how you would do anything to make us happy. I remember you singing and whistling all through the house. I remember how loud you laughed and your great big smile. And how excited I was any time I knew I was going to get to see my Uncle John! - those were the best days. Thank you for those lovely times and great memories. Thank you for loving us so proudly. We love you too

This is for you cuz, and your family.

Spirits linger where people fear
Headstones bear their names quite clear
Loved ones that once played with us
Still hear our footsteps, but cannot touch
Birds sing softly where flowers placed
Shhhhh, just listen you can see their face
The Dreamer

I hope this brings someone peace

What can I say?! John you were a great big cousin to me growing up. You are reason I love rock music. You always made me laugh. You were a big part of my childhood and I will never forget you. When I got the call I was shocked. My heart is broken that I didn´t get a chance to tell you how much I loved you. Say hi to Aunt Ann and grandma for me!!! Love you always, Marguerite
