John Manzo Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 2, 2024.
John Manzo Jr., of Hackensack, NJ entered into eternal peace on, Sunday, April 28th 2024. John is survived by his loving mother, Theresa Manzo (nee Paolazzi), his devoted wife of 38 years, Gail Manzo (nee Van Horn), his two children, who were his pride and joy above all things - John (and Ashley) and Michelle "Widge" (and Tomasa Martinez), as well as his grandson Augustus. John is survived by his loving siblings, Theresa (and Thomas Femano), Jeanne Murtha and Nicholas his brother who he called "Scharole". John is also survived by his nephew Nicholas E Manzo "Young Scharole" who he was deeply proud of, his loving niece Sharon Perez (and Gerry) and their children Kayla and Logan, all of whom he loved like his own. John is survived by numerous other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many lifetime friends who affectionately knew him as "Rico" or "Johnny". John was predeceased and welcomed into heaven by his late father, John Manzo Sr. and his mother-in-law Bernice Van Horn (nee Morrison), as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

John loved his family beyond measure, he was a quiet and uncomplicated man - he knew no judgement, was kind to everyone, immensely gentle and patient, hardworking and loyal. He had a wonderful, comforting chuckle that he would occasionally let go to show you he was listening. John loved anything Harley Davidson, motorcycles or "hogs" (as he called them), minibikes, dirt bikes, mechanics, the Jersey shore, fishing, old country music, food and doing things that were helpful to others. John was extremely skilled with his hands, there was nothing that he couldn't build or fix. He worked hard until the day he died, he was a skilled mechanic and auto-body mechanic for many years and most recently worked as a property manager for over a decade.

He lived his life with a loving heart, dedicated to his family. Until his last days, he spent every Sunday with his mother and family, having dinner together in his childhood home in Saddle Brook, NJ. This brought him so much joy. John was a son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and very dear friend. He was an amazing person, very special, and he will be remembered forever for the kind and gentle man that he was. He is heart wrenchingly missed by his family and loved ones and will never be forgotten. We ask at this time that you think not of us, but of John - so that we can be sure his legacy will live forever.

My husband and I have known John for close to 27 years. We were both shocked and saddened to hear about his passing. John was truly one of the nicest, kindest people you could ever meet. He was quiet but loving and strong beyond his stature. He held unbelievable talent in his hands and could do anything he set his mind to.
John met his match when it came to his wife Gail, but the love they shared for each other could never be questioned or matched, because it was so true. He was an amazing family man who was so proud of his children you could actually see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice when he spoke of them. He loved his grandson with all his heart and found great happiness in being a Grandpa. The love he had for his family and his extended family, his friends and really anyone who crossed his path was a true measure of his goodness. I remember how he always spoke softly to my children and how his face would light up whenever he interacted with them. His sweet nature will never be forgotten. He will be missed forever by all those who knew him.
To Gail, Michelle, Johnny and the rest of his family our deepest heartfelt condolences. A man like John can never be replaced. You will all be in our prayers with the hope you find strength in your memories to deal with such a monumental loss. Until we all meet again, may John rest in peace with the Lord. God bless you all.
With Sincere Love,
"Cousins" Nicky and Linda Mayer and Family

John would come up the stairs when I dropped my Ella off for babysitting. He would always go check to see how she was doing. What a wonderful man.
