JOHN McAULEY Obituary
August 28, 1923 - February 4, 2012
A resident of Ottawa, Ontario, formerly of Lachine, Quebec, Jack passed away suddenly in Stuart, Florida in his 89th year. He was predeceased by his loving wife Phyllis (Corran) in 1999. Jack will be missed by his dear friend and companion Ruby Laughridge of Stuart, Florida. Father of Barbara (Neil Adams) Sydney, Australia, Jo-Ann (Harold Aubie) Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Caroline (Jeffery McDougall) Calgary, Alberta. He will be affectionately remembered by his grandchildren as "Grangrad, the legend", Andrea (Stephane Croels), Jacqueline (Jeffrey Black), Alex Aubie and John McDougall. He leaves behind his sister-in-law Jeannie Corran-Miles, his cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Jack served in the Canadian Armed Forces overseas during WWII. In 1981 he retired from Bell Canada and enjoyed spending time in Ottawa, Ontario, Lachute, Quebec and Stuart, Florida. He will be remembered for his talent as a musician, his amazing knowledge of current affairs and his great sense of humour. A memorial service will be held for Jack in Stuart, Florida on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. The funeral will take place in Montreal, Quebec at a later date. He will be laid to rest at Beechwood Military Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army, Jack's long time favourite charity.
