John McBain Obituary

Lieutenant Commander John McBain (retired) Royal Canadian Navy John McBain passed away on November 9, 2010 at the Ottawa General Hospital. John was born in Scotland and moved to Canada after the Second World War, originally settling in Montreal. John had a full career with the Royal Canadian Navy, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Even in his retirement years, John remained active in the workings of government. He held a number of positions with Commissionaires Canada, the Department of National Defense, Industry Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Justice Canada and the Office of the Judge Advocate General and taught at the NATO School in Oberammergau, Germany. John was always willing to share stories over coffee or beer. He will be missed by his friends and neighbours in Ottawa and his friends in the Canadian Forces and the many Federal departments he worked for.
