Family-Placed Death Notice

TILLEM, Yvonne Yvonne Slesinger Tillem passed away on Sunday morning, January 13, 2013 at home in the presence of her loving family after a long illness and struggle of life. She showed great courage and bravery. Yvonne was born and raised in Bishopville, SC to Morris and Anna Michalove Slesinger, of Blessed Memory. She was also predeceased by her brother, Paul Slesinger of Charleston, SC and sister, Rita Goldstein of Atlanta, GA. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1958 and was a licensed pharmacist. Yvonne was a devoted Mother and Grandmother who was willing to give of herself to her family. In addition to love, she also taught them to be good, kind, and respected children and grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Jerry Tillem; two daughters, Michelle and Wendi (Lloyd Wynn) Tillem; grandchildren, Ethan and Arden Frank; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and William Hartman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Yvonne and Jerry would have been married for 54 years this March. She was not only Jerry's partner in life but was also very instrumental in getting their family business started. Yvonne prided herself in helping anyone she could and will be truly missed by her loving family and all who knew her. An online guestbook is available at www.edressler.com. Graveside service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs with Rabbi Joshua Heller officiating. Jerry and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I always loved seeing Yvonne every month and we would have our talks about fashion, mainly purses and shoes. She had great style. There were so many times our visits would make my day. She will be missed by many.

Jerry, Michelle, and Wendi, As you know Yvonne and I were friends thru Grammar and High School We were more than friends - we were sisters and I loved her very much. I spent many happy hours in her home. We played the piano, we played old records, we sang. I always felt so much love there. Even though we have not seen each other so much in our later years, the love was still there. I feel as though I have lost a much loved sister. And to all of you I send love and hugs and I hope we can keep in touch. I know God is watching over you.

To hear of the passing of Yvonne is like losing a beloved family member that we love dearly. Lawrence and I have known the Tillems for almost 39 years.
