JOHN McGILL Obituary
JOHN J., Jr.
Age 89, of Bethel Park, on Sunday, December 22, 2013. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy "Dotti"; loving father of John J., III (Paula), Michael P. (Gemma), Nancy (Jason) Ross; daughter-in-law, Judy McGill and the late Richard McGill; brother of James (and the late Wilma) McGill; he was also preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and William McDonough; grandfather of Missy (Dave) Pust, Stephanie (Matt) Warhola, Amy (Bryan) Medvec and Michael Immen; great-grandfather of Colton, Stella, Liam and Victoria. Jack started his career in the insurance business where he remained for nearly 40 years. In 1971 he started his own insurance agency, President of the Insurance Center until 1987, also Jack's Hallmark for 30 years that he enjoyed very much. Jack retired at the age of 82 to enjoy his family, friends and traveling with his beloved wife Dotti. Friends welcome Thursday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. FREYVOGEL - SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, (412-835-1860) 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park (opposite Macy's South Hills Village). Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's name to the American Cancer Society.

Dear Jack and Michael, It's always hard to lose a parent, but their never really gone. Their always in you heart and memories. You'll look at old pictures and relive the good times and the not so good. I know your father missed Dottie terribly, but like you said, Jack. Your Dad decided to spend Christmas with his wife and that's a great way to look at it. Their all celebrating Christmas in Heaven, free from all the pain of illnesses and sadness and relishing in the glory of God this very day, as I pray we all will someday.

I was so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I didn't have the opportunity to visit him and his family very many times since I live in the Seattle area, but I always enjoyed talking to him. I appreciated our cousin, Ken McGill, letting me know about his passing. I know he will be missed a lot. May God help you through this challenging time.
