I just became aware of Johnny's passing and am saddened. We grew up together in Newton and he was one of my inspirations to join the Marines. A terrific golfer but small in stature yet he was tenacious at Parris Island and Vietnam. After my tour and college I served 24 more in the Army and never let Johnny's image out of my sight. I now am an avid golfer. Rest in Peace and Semper Fi! Jack Donovan, Colonel (Ret), Chapel Hill, North Carolina

John was a true gentleman through and through. He was a proud patriot and veteran. He was a protector and could handle any situation with grace. Even through his cancer journey he was upbeat and surrounded by many friends who loved him. Seems he left this planet a little early.. but who am I to say. I am happy to have known him.

Although it has been many years since we have seen John, we often thought of him and our many fond memories. We will always remember how kind he was to Patti's father. Rest in Peace John,

I met John 7 years ago while visiting the desert. My plan was to end up out here for good.
Always a gentleman, always smiling, John showed me around town and introduced me to his many friends.
When I heard of his health issues, he made light of it and kept a solid stance.
When I let him know I would miss him, he said," Just remember the time I knocked my glass of red wine all over you, and have a good laugh."
I will John, but you will be deeply missed

I met John in the mid 90´s when I visited Palm Springs on a girls weekend. We have been close friends ever since. He was funny, kind, smart & brave. He enjoyed a good steak & nice restaurants, but also liked a hot dog at a ball game. He enjoyed traveling & spent many summers living in other places to get out of the heat of the desert in then summer. He was passionate about the game of golf. I will miss him dearly. Rest in peace, my friend.
