Directly out of school as a veterinarian, I worked briefly at Southside Veterinary Clinic (as part of a temporary arrangement between Dr. Mehaffey and my primary employer). He was a laid back, kind man with a never ending smile. He was patient and encouraging. Sending peace to his family, friends, and coworkers.

The world has lost a good person, I will always be grateful to Dr. Mehaffey for being a wonderful mentor and giving me the opportunity to work at his practice. Condolences to the family. He will be missed.

We are so very sorry to hear of John's passing. We have such fond memories of him and family during our kids BHS show choir and football days.

What an honor to have worked for this wonderful man. He was officially my work husband. Lol. He was a great veterinarian. His knowledge was immense. His heart was full of love for his "sweet woman" and his big family. Too many stories to count, but oh how I loved him. What a hole he leaves in your family but knowing he is with our Lord and no longer suffering with this terrible disease. Love you all.
