John Vincent Melagrano, 78, of North Reading, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2021. John is the beloved husband to his cherished wife of 58 years, Dolores (Thomas) Melagrano, surviving daughter of the late Domenic and Margaret (Peloso) Thomas. He is the loving father of his son Michael and his wife Rachel of Wakefield, son David and his wife Katherine of Stoneham, daughter Renae and John Witham of Malden, and son Paul Melagrano and his longtime companion Kimberly Morabito of Tewksbury. John, the devoted son of the late Angelo and Pasqualina (DiSimone) Melagrano is survived by his sister, Marie Henderson and her husband Jack of Marblehead. He is pre-deceased by his sister Ida Fulcini, late wife of her surviving husband Salvatore of Reading; sister Susan Milligan and her late husband Richard Milligan of Marblehead; and sister Margaret Jancsy survived by her husband William of Marblehead. John is the doting brother-in-law to Peter and his wife Marie Thomas of Winthrop; Loretta Casale, surviving wife of George Casale, East Kingston; and Constance Flores, surviving wife of the late Ronald Flores of Peabody. John cherished his grandchildren. He is the adored Papa of Zachary, Micaela, Ashley, Ryan, Kelliegh, Nicole, Cameron, and Danielle, all of whom contributed sustaining warmth to his heart. As a devout uncle to many nieces and nephews, John will be continually loved and missed dearly. Born in Mirabella, Italy, and raised in Everett, John was a graduate of Everett High School. John became a certified electrician, later completing an extensive career spanning numerous roles, from operator to instructor of heavy equipment for the MBTA. John Melagrano, be it the role of a husband, father, son, grandfather, uncle, nephew, friend, employee, or acquaintance was an honorable, loyal, generous, kind, and humble man. He would never think twice lending favor to one in need, no matter how tall the order. John wanted nothing in this world but what mattered. This was the oath or code my father lived by. He loved being with his family and succeeded being there for his family. As a great friend to all, he enjoyed the work around the house, and the meals within at the table; the weekly bowling league he attended, and the sincerity and care given for that which he could not attend. My father John is my hero. He will always be the one I look to in times of need and who's guidance I will follow. Forever sharing with him the many truly precious moments to come as a pure result of his existence. My Dad did not think of himself as Regal, but I can confidently affirm that he was nothing short of royalty to so many people and left behind a legacy akin to that of a king. I love you dad. Your every lesson I will take with me, rest now, worry not, all we see is your smile, and the light you left us aflame will fuel an eternity of warmth in our hearts. Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Thursday May 6, 2021 from 4 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home. Due to state regulations for Covid-19, a mask is required while in the funeral home as well as social distancing at all times. A Funeral Service Celebrating John's Eternal Life will be held in the Barile Family Funeral Home 482 Main St. (RT28) STONEHAM on Friday May 7, 2021 at 10 am. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
