John Paul "Mike" Mikolajczyk

OLEAN - John Paul ""Mike"" Mikolajczyk, of 1099 Steam Valley Road, Olean, formerly of West Fall Road, Olean, passed away Tuesday (March 29, 2016) in the emergency room at Olean General Hospital.

Born on Aug. 27, 1915, in Olean, he was a son of the late Paul and Antonina Klimczyk Mikolajczyk. On Sept. 20, 1941, in St. Cecelia's Church, Oakfield, he married the former Verna Kowalczyk, who passed away Jan. 17, 2013.

A lifelong resident of Olean, he retired from Dresser Clark in January 1978 after 37 years of service.

John was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and a past member of the Pulaski Club. He was a member of the Local 4601 Steelworker Retiree Association.

John enjoyed fishing on Chautauqua Lake.

Surviving are four daughters, Judith M. (William Hill) Mikolajczyk of Olean, Diane Nesbitt of Rochester, Eleanor (Peter) Geraci of Amherst and Nancy (David) Lorenzini of Bradenton, Fla.; grandchildren, Peter, Phillip, T.J., Nicole, Michele, Daniel, Annmarie, Laura, Annette, James and Jennifer; a special grandson, Shawn Hill, who made sure he was tucked in each night the last four years; several great-grandchildren; a special great-grandchild, Mia Peterson, with whom he enjoyed spending time each day; a close friend and caretaker, Betty Olander of Olean; a brother, Theodore (Lola) Mikolajczyk of Mount Home, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his wife; a sister, Sophie Kukulka; and three brothers, Stephen, Stanley and Ignatious Mikolajczyk.
Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. today (Friday, April 1, 2016) in St. Mary of the Angels Church, Olean. The Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church Renovation Fund or to the Westons Mills Fire Department Ambulance Fund.
