My sincere condolences to the family. I had the privilege of meeting and working with John when I worked with the City of Saskatoon. He was an open-minded, kind and practical man that would always find a way of making things work. He had one of the best smiles ever. May his soul rest in peace. Om shanti, shanti, shanti, Om.

I am shocked to hear of John's passing, especially so soon after his retirement. Although I didn't see him often, I knew him for many years in the zoo world. I know he gave countless hours and much wisdom to the zoo community. He always had a smile, good stories and good jokes when I saw him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues.

I got the chance to see John right after he came back from Saskatoon. He told me that he was happy to come back home and now he will have the time to enjoy his family with Debbie. Life is unfair. John was a colleague for 18 years at Parc Safari , a bear with a big hearth. My pray are with you. Xoxo

John has left us far too soon, but he has left the animal world better for having been here. My deepest sympathies to his family on the loss of a remarkable man. I got to know John through the Canadian Zoo and Aquarium Association, where he unselfishly dedicated countless hours and emotional energy. John had more good stories about the zoo world than anyone else in it. He was engaging and passionate, and I will greatly miss seeing John at the annual conference, and the opportunity to benefit from all his experience and wisdom. The human and animal world has lost a dear friend.

John was a member of my Gordon International Curling team for a number of years. In my recollection, these events were filled with comradery, keen competitiveness and "joie de vivre". We even won some of the hallmark awards of this prestigious 40-team event. I remember John for his energy, his resourcefulness and for his commitment to family.
My deepest condolences go out to you, Debbie and Zach.
