John Moreno Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 27, 2018.
John William Moreno, 67, of Killeen, passed away December 25, 2018, peacefully at home.
John was born July 23, 1951 in Sherman, Texas to the late Ruben Moreno and Jewell Sunshine Olson. He was raised in California before returning to Texas and settling in Vidor where he was drafted into the military in 1972. John met and married the love of his life, Dawn Hansen, on April 23, 1984. John served his country faithfully and honorably as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars and was stationed in numerous places around the world, including Korea, Alaska, Germany and lastly at Ft. Hood where he retired in 1992.
John worked as a diesel mechanic for many years and when not working, enjoyed riding his motorcycles, going to the lake, working on cars and trucks, most of all spending time with his family and friends. He lived for his family and especially enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren who he adored, as they adored their "Papa".
John was preceded in death by his parents, son, J.R. Moreno, and 3 sisters, Pat, Donna and Virginia.
Left to cherish John's memory are his wife of 34 years, Dawn Moreno of Killeen; Sons, Cody Moreno and wife Amanda of Round Rock, Justin Moreno and wife Amy of Temple; daughter, Chrystal Leasure of Harker Heights; step brothers, Leroy Carter II and Michael Carter; and grandchildren, Austin Moreno, Kaegan Huddleston, Leah Leasure, Kenley McGouh, Easton Moreno, Kai Moreno and Karsyn Moreno.
Visitation for John will be 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen. Graveside Services with full military honors will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
