John Mulvoy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 27, 2022.
John (Jack) Matthew Mulvoy passed away unexpectedly at his home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina last week. Jack was a beloved father, husband, friend, engineer, and Wisconsin Badger. He loved the Yankees, his dogs, being Santa Claus, blasting Queen in his truck, snowstorms, game days at Camp Randall, and home improvement projects. Most of all he loved his kids, his family, and his lifelong friends.

He was a well respected mining and civil engineer and his work can be seen all over the world. He enjoyed traveling and learning about other cultures through his work. As a "jack of all trades" there is no way to summarize the life he had and the things he accomplished. He even had a stint as a speech writer, moonlighted as a mason and carpenter, and put on his chef hat at every holiday. His friends will remember his famous chili which won many competitions.

Jack was the life of the party, his personality was so big and his love of life so illustrious. His kids will be fact checking many of the outrageous stories he told at the dinner table. They loved him and will miss him more than he could ever know. Jack was looking forward to fulfilling his lifelong dream of living on America's western frontier in Wyoming. He was an outdoorsman and his family will imagine him in heaven fishing and living off the grid as he intended.

He is survived by his daughters Kathryn, Erin, and Annie, mother Kathleen, and brother Tom. His children will announce plans for a memorial service at a later date, which will be held in New Jersey.

Three years later...so surreal. I think I am still in disbelief over Jack's passing. Our strong connection was from those pre-adolescent years (6th grade through 10th grade in HS, then reconnecting again after HS and our Parsippany Hills Class of 78 centering. Those memories linger in such a positive way. We stayed connected through college but drifted a bit in those early adult years, and really only reconnected again (sort of analogous to those HS years in a way!) later in the last 20 years with a dialogue around life, the challenges along the way, and the treasure of the memories from the early years. I miss Jack a great deal - and empathize with his humanity around mental health concerns in our lives, something we shared but at different times and contexts. In all, we shared so much and thereby had such a strong bond of caring. Jack, you are with me in my thoughts and prayers, always!

I was so sorry to learn about Jack's passing. I knew Jack well and hold many wonderful memories of our time in high school. We had a close group of friends that did everything together-Jack was at the core of this group. I remember his smile and always having a good time. Although I hadn't seen him in many, many years, we were all lucky to have him in our lives. God bless you all.

My family was saddened to here the news of Jackie´s passing.
The Mulvoy family remained an integral part of our Beachwood Rd neighborhood (Mulvoys, Bernero´s, and Delaney´s).
We will always remember Jack as a person with strong character,
a good friend, and for having a great sense of humor.
As kids, the Mulvoy family had the biggest yard in the neighborhood,
so we had many fond memories, including Cook outs, building forts, playing "Kick the Can", and tackle football.
Jack was always our leader, first in first out, and he possessed an incredible sense of honesty and fairness, along with a remarkable understanding between right and wrong, at such an early age.
We also worked together at the Knoll Country Club in H.S.,
as part of their infamous "Rotary Club", where we would carpool with Jack in his primed out, Ford Galaxy 500.
In addition, we were all very proud of Jack´s success in his Engineering career, and his World travels in the Mining industry.
Our sympathy goes out to the entire Mulvoy family, including his Mom Kathy, brother Tom, and Jackie´s entire family in Winston Salem, NC.
Friends Always,
The Delaney Family

So sad to hear this news. Condolences to Jack's family, friends, and all who knew him.

Jack was a valued member of the staff at Aldea and will be missed by everyone. He was a highly skilled engineer and the best mentor anyone could have.

My deepest condolences to Mrs. Mulvoy, Tommy, Kathryn, Erin, Annie, the Mulvoy and Havas families, and all those who loved Jack.

It was my good fortune to have been friends with Jack the past 47 years. Over that time we played many a touch football and softball game together, talked politics, economics, as well as sports; and shared more laughs than I will ever be able to count.

Jack my friend, I too will miss you dearly.

Jack was my best friend during childhood. Our feelings remained across time and distance, despite how different our situations were. I will always value our connection and deep feelings for each other.

My fondest memories of Jack was the impact he had on me my junior year (fall of 1978) at Parsippany Hills HS on the football team. Jack was one year ahead of me and a Senior Captain and he would always give me a ride to practice in his beat up junky old car, ... back then we drove junk, ... hahaha. Anyway, ... my take away on Jack is he was a model HS student and athlete and I looked up to him, ... and I doubt he ever knew this but it had an impact on my life. If I could sum it up it was to work hard and never give up, ... and so thank you Jack for your influence, ... and so may God continue to bless the Mulvoy family, ... you will be missed.
