John Joseph Nagengast, known to his loved ones as John, passed away on July 5, 2023, in Richmond, Michigan, at the age of 42. He was born on July 17, 1980, in Daytona Beach, Florida. John grew up in New Baltimore and graduated from Holy Cross Elementary School. He spent two years at Cardinal Mooney High School before ultimately graduating from Anchor Bay High School.

John's career was centered around his passion for cooking. He worked as a cook and chef, using his culinary skills to create delicious meals. Outside of work, John had a love for basketball, which he enjoyed playing in his free time.

John is survived by his college-age son, Deryk Nagengast, as well as his son Jameson (10) and daughters Reilly (13) and Nina (12). He was preceded in death by their wife/mother, Laura Nagengast, in 2015.

John is survived and well loved by his parents, Allan and Cheryl Nagengast, brother, Steve Nagengast, His many Aunts and Uncles: Kathy (Ray) O'Reilly Widick, Teri O'Reilly Costanza, Maureen (George) O'Reilly Smith, Peggy (Randy) O'Reilly Davis,
Eileen (Charlie) O'Reilly Long, Michael J O'Reilly Carol Nagengast Haase, Christine Nagengast. 12 Cousins

A funeral service to honor John's life will be held on September 23, 2023, at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259 23 Mile Rd, New Baltimore, MI 48047. The service will take place from 9 am to 11 am and will include scripture readings and blessings by Fr. Joseph Esper from ICC Parish. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery on Church Rd in Ira Township. A lunch reception will be held at the Immaculate Conception Parish Hall, located at M29 and Church Rd.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly requests considering a donation to a GoFundMe campaign that has been set up to support John's three minor children and college-age son. Contributions can be made at https://gofund.me/a8d49c55.

John Nagengast will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
