John T. Nicodemus, Jr., 84, of Fort Smith, was called home by our loving and gracious God on Sunday, June 5th, bringing him peace and reuniting him with his beloved, Helen. John cherished his family and friends, leaving with them many loving and happy memories to comfort them at this time of loss. Through the grace of almighty God and His Blessings, John's legacy will continue with his children and grandchildren and families in business, law, healthcare and public service. His family is truly thankful they got to know and love him as Dad and Papaw. He was born on October 29, 1931 in Fort Smith to the late John T. Nicodemus, Sr. and Elizabeth Hoskins Nicodemus. He was a retired proprieter for Nicodemus Sheet Metal. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 208 and the Fort Smith Jaycees. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Nicodemus.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

He is survived by three sons, Robert A. Nicodemus and his wife, Debra of Rogers, Ronald E. Nicodemus and his wife, Joyce of Fort Smith and Joseph E. Nicodemus and his wife, Sue of Springdale; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Ullman and her husband, Roger of Prairie Creek, AR; six grandchildren, Kara Heim, Kyle Nicodemus, David Nicodemus, Rachael Owens, Michael Nicodemus, Jennifer Nicodemus and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Greg Nichols, Dennis Kennedy, Steve Griffin, Greg Heim, Drew Pianalto and Josh Owens.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club, 4905 North O Street, Fort Smith, AR 72904.

Always enjoyed our short conversations when I stopped by the shop and John was just sitting in his chair by the window. He always had a smile on his face and was happy to see you and ready to visit about the old times.
