John M. Ouellette of Spring Hill , Florida passed on to new hunting and fishing grounds on Aug. 3, 2025. Born May 10 ,1943 in Livermore Falls, Maine to Edward and Marie ( L'Heureux ) Ouellette . A tremendous loss is felt by family and friends. His generosity and acceptance of others was felt by many who knew him. John's great intellect was evident in his sharp wit and attention to detail in all he did. Under a gruff exterior was a kind and gentle man, a man who radiated love and grace to his family, always offering a warm hug, a listening ear, and unwavering support. John treasured every moment with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, their laughter filling his heart and bringing a brilliant smile to his face.

Upon graduation from Livermore Falls High School in 1961, John went on to pursue a teaching career at Farmington State College ( UMF ). While attending college he met his future wife, Judith Matthieu of Farmington,ME They married in 1964. After graduation in 1965, John began teaching in Oakland , Maine. His love for reading showed when he taught 8th grade students reading and English.

In 1975 he returned to Livermore Falls to operate Eddie's Service Station. Later John expanded operations to Jay, Maine and started Eddie's Oil Co. with his son , Michael , which they operated together until John's retirement in 2000.

John's love of hunting and fishing led him to become a registered Maine guide. He enjoyed the time he would spend leading moose hunts in Aroostook County. His favorite place was his camp in Grand Falls, Maine where he would spend as much time as possible enjoying nature and feeding birds out of his hand.

In 2004, John and Judith moved to Spring Hill, Florida but returned to Maine every summer. Golf became their favorite pastime during retirement.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Judith, of 60 years, two sons and their spouses, Mark and Erica Ouellette of Strong, Maine and Michael and Nicky Ouellette of Spring Hill, Florida. Three grand children, Autumn Ouellette, William R Calden and his wife Isabella of Livermore Falls,Maine and Rachel Ortega and her husband Lefty of St. Augustine, Florida. Three great grandchildren Alaynna, Cooper, and Lily. Two sisters, Judith Gross of New York and Rebecca Jones of Stockton Springs, Maine. Sister in law Marlene Ouellette of Topsham, Maine. Brother in law Joseph Matthieu of Dunedin, Florida and sister in law Bonnie Matthieu of Farmington, Maine.

John was predeceased by his parents, and older brother Gregory of Topsham, Maine.

A celebration of life will be held in Maine later this fall. All family and friends are invited to share memories and honor John's legacy.
