John "Pat" Dexter Patterson Jr.

Conover, NC

John "Pat" Dexter Patterson, Jr, 87, passed away July 25, 2011 at Frye Regional Medical Center.

"Pat" was born November 15, 1923 in Rhinebeck, NY to the late John Dexter Patterson, Sr. and Marie Davies Patterson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Patterson.

He was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, a graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, PA. and served in the US Navy and US Army in the post WW II Occupation and Korean Conflict. He was the retired manager of Heely Brown in Simpsonville, SC.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Mary Adie Patterson of Conover, daughter; Rev. Penelope Patterson Urbaniak and husband, Ronald of Banner Elk, sons; John "Jack" D. Patterson, III and wife, Beth and Robert "Bob" Patterson and wife, Louisa both of Hickory, granddaughters, Katrina Purdy, Lauren Patterson and Terra Bailey, grandsons; John D. Patterson, IV and Alec Patterson, 4 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Monday, August 1, 2011, at 3:00 PM at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with Father Randy Ferebee officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 130 39th. Ave. Pl., N. W., Hickory, N., C. 28601.

Dear Mary, Youhave lost a treasure. Wow, what fun Pat and I use to have on the golf course! And when He told me about Poughkepsie,thaty was another WOW! His homw grown tomatoes were another WOW! He was wonderful human being, warm and compassionate, and loving and caring to you and also to your three children whom when he spoke aboutanyone of them, it was for him anothert WOW experience! May Giod bless you and be with you and comfort you and sustain you in the days ahead.
