John A. Pentek

John A. Pentek, age 84, of Sheboygan passed away on December 16th, 2013, with his family by his side. He has gone on to be reunited with his wife Carol, whom he truly missed for years, and the rest of his siblings, Tony, Joe, twin brother Steve and sister Barb.

He was born on December 24, 1928, the son of the late Julius and Maksa Miholic Pentek. He attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1947. John was a United States Air Force Veteran and was stationed in Illinois, California and Ramstein AFB, in Germany. He travelled to numerous countries while serving his country.

On August 21, 1954, he was united in marriage to the former Marilyn G. Spettel and had 2 daughters, LuAnn, and Linda. Later in life after divorce, John married again to the former Carol Lee.

John worked in numerous manufacturing plants throughout the Sheboygan area including a brief period at the Kohler Company where he served as a union steward for the Service Machine Shop. He and his wife Carol later moved to Manitowoc where they became caretakers for the Rahr estate. After 16 years they both retired and moved back to Sheboygan to enjoy their retirement years.

John enjoyed fishing, especially the Canada trip with Carol, his daughter LuAnn and son-in-law, Paul. Stories are still being told of those trips! John loved to go to Oneida when he could, "you never know when you're gonna hit the big one!" He liked watching baseball, football, and political talk shows, but usually just continued to flip through all the channels. Most of all, John enjoyed making his "Saturday rounds," visiting family members and close friends every Saturday "bearing gifts." John always meant well, had a big heart, and was willing to help those less fortunate.

Survivors include his two daughters, LuAnn (Paul) Maratik, Linda (Stan) Rauwerdink, stepsons, Scott (Meg) Lee, Tony (Debbie) Lee, and Chuck (Kathy) Lee as well as all their children and grandchildren whom he cared for deeply. Sisters-in-law, Phyllis Pentek, Marilynn (Molly) Pentek, and Joan Pentek all of Sheboygan, and is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

His wife Carol, sister, Barbara Kanzelberger, brothers, Joe, Tony, and Stephen all preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for John on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at 12:00 p.m., at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, (822 New Jersey Ave, Sheboygan) with the Rev. Paul Fliss officiating. Friends and family may call on the family from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

John's family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to Dr. Michael Johnson and his staff for the many years of care, compassion and support. Additional thanks and appreciation to the staff of Sheboygan Senior Community and Sharon Richardson Hospice for the kindness and support you've showed John through his journey - May God bless you all.

John and his witty comments and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all. "Don't pick up any wooden nickels" Dad, Laku Noc!

Our deepest sympathy to the family of John Pentek. We had many good times with John & Carol and still think of them often. We spoke to John on the phone about a year or two ago and just noticed his obit online. Bet John and Carol are laughing up there right now :)

I used to clean your dad's apartment, we had many great conversations. He was a very warm and caring man, as you said always giving out "treats" mine was usually a big chocolate bar. May you find peace in knowing he is with the ones he loved and missed. He often talked of his wife, and his twin brother. God Bless your family.

Our thoughts & prayers are with you at this sad time. Your dad was such a kind, good man. I will never forget what a loyal brother he was to our dad, always there for him. Take comfort in knowing they are all together, once again & Christmas Eve will be quite the Birthday celebration in heaven. In loving memory of a wonderful life. Love, Janice Pentek Hense & family.
