Like Mr. Holland, you had students who remembered you long into adulthood. Es meus ventus magister, Mr. Peters.

My condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Peters. I have fond memories of German I class and the German Club at Cardinal O'Hara HS. I still remember some of the vocabulary that I learned in his class years later. I could probably ask directions to the nearest bookstore or make my way around an airport!
He made an impact on the lives of thousands of students, I am sure. He made learning fun.

I am deeply saddened to learn of John's passing. My sympathies to his wife and family. John was a lovely man I am glad to have met, a very hard worker and super friendly to all those around him. He always made us smile.

Although German was not my first choice of a language at O'Hara, I am glad I ended up having it b/c it gave me the opportunity of having Mr. Peters for 3 years. His clipboard of marking student's correct answers was a signature of his. Condolences to his family. He was a great ambassador for O'Hara.

My deepest sympathy to Maureen and the Peters family. Mr. Peters was my bowling coach while at O'Hara. He lead us to several Catholic League championships. Besides being a great coach, he was just a funny, supportive and all around good guy. He was a true asset to the O'Hara "family".

Mr. Peters, What a great teacher! Not many could make the German language fun and interesting...enough to want to take German 3 and 4. I think I was a junior when the Berlin Wall came down, and you just laughed that a bunch of 16 and 17 year olds just didn't get the significance. I think of you whenever I hear "Stille Nacht" which you had us sing in class! May you rest in peace and may your spirit live on, in your children and grandchildren.

Herr Peters was a man you don't meet everyday. He was in the best sense of the world a true Renaissance man as a teacher, coach, translator of words and worlds and a proud Dad and Father. Small things like his Christmas story translation projects brought the world into his class and made us better for it.

Herr Peters was the first male teacher our junior year German class ever had. It took a ton of courage for him to walk into a classroom of sixteen year old girls. Within one teaching period, however, he gained our respect and affection forever.

John was an excellent comic, satiric wit, good ballplayer and dedicated teacher. His enthusiasm for life and concern for a better society is his legacy.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Mr Peters was my bowling coach at Cardinal O'Hara and I remember those times fondly.
Years later, he taught my son at O'Hara and he too had nothing but good things to say about him.
Rest in peace, Mr Peters.
You were appreciated and respected and you will be remembered.

Guten Nacht, Herr Peters. You were a teacher I never forgot. You also taught my daughter 30 years later & she has good memories of you, also. To the Peters family, please know that he has touched many lives for the better.
Rest in peace.

For my dear friend, cherished colleague from those happy years at O'Hara, I never imagined I would be saying good-bye so soon. I will miss your sweet and funny emails, with so very many suggested books to read.
Love to your family, and little Alex.

Herr Peters was one of my favorite teachers at O'Hara. All these many years later, I can still remember his smile, his sense of humor and his kindness. May the warm memories of his many students help to warm your hearts at this difficult time.

Mr. John Peters was an institution at Cardinal O'Hara, even before I arrived in the fall of 1970. Never knew a student of his who had anything but affection and respect for him. A credit to the Big O. Sincere condolences and a promise of prayers to comfort you...
