PINK , John Douglas October 23, 1955 - October 16, 2009 John, beloved husband of Jasna Bakic of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the age of 53. Consistent with how John handled life, he battled cancer with dignity, humour, determination, strength and courage. He was born in New Westminster, B.C. and moved to Kamloops in 1961 at the age of six. John graduated from Kamloops Sr. Secondary School in 1973 and furthered his studies at the University of Alberta earning a B. Ed in Secondary Science Education in 1978. John taught for a number of years at Brocklehurst Jr. High School in Kamloops. He pursued a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Calgary and completed his MBA in 1987. John held various positions in Calgary; most recently as a co-founder of Novapure Systems, a company specializing in mold detection and remediation. John was predeceased by his mother Queenie Pink earlier this year and his father Tory in 1965. John has left to mourn his wife Jasna Bakic, daughter Tanja Bakic, sister Brenda Pink and stepfather Tom Lawrie. John, fondly known as "Rooster" is one of those rare individuals that deeply touched so many lives. He will be dearly missed by his relatives and by the extraordinarily large circle of close friends he gathered along life's road. A Celebration of John's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . All of us at Bio-Chem Consulting Services Ltd are deeply saddened by John's passing. John was quite a visionary and surely a leader in his industry. We very much enjoyed his intuitive perspective during discussions and quickly recognized the great value he was bringing to his clients and our organization.
This industry has lost a true leader and no-one can easily step into John's footsteps. It will take us a long time to work through the emotions of this loss. John is in a better place now, all we can do is try to carry on his legacy and be thankful for having had the opportunity to share his life path.

John was a great mentor to me and made such a positive impact on my life. I first met John during the "Sky's the Limit" Entrepreneurial Project at Mount Royal in the mid 1990's where he headed up this program. John remained an important mentor to me throughout the years and was always generous with his time, advice and humour. He will be greatly missed and very fondly remembered.

John will be deeply missed by all staff at Bio-Chem Consulting. I fondly remember him routinely arriving at our facility eager to brief us on yet another bizarre project he was working on. This would normally be followed by a quick question or two and then out the door with a big smile and a wave. Calgary has lost a outstanding professional.
