GREENSBORO — John Pinkney Redwine III left his life here on earth in the evening of November 9, 2010, after a six year battle with cancer.
There will be a private graveside service held Friday morning. There will be a service to honor the memory of "Big John" on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3719 Pinetop Road, Greensboro, NC.
He was born on February 27, 1940, in Lexington, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Catherine Redwine; his beloved aunt, Eula Covert and his precious great-granddaughter, Kaylee Nicole Pickett.
Left to cherish his memory and looking forward to someday joining him on the other side are the members of his family-his wife of 51 years, Linda Angel Redwine; his children: Johnny Redwine (Suzette), Rhonda Redwine, Karen Johnson (Chuck), Laurie Jameson (TJ), Kristi Flournoy (Tim), foster son, Allan Grimsley and his grandchildren: Brittany Pickett (Braiden), Wesley Johnson, Brandi Redwine, Katy Johnson, Abbi Jameson, Brooke Redwine, Tyler Jameson, Luke Johnson, Madelyn Flournoy, Daniel Jameson, Alyssa Jameson, Aubrey Flournoy as well as his step Granddaughters, Christina Vaughan (Sean) and Ashley Levan (Landon) and his church family and loving friends.
Condolences will be received immediately following the memorial service or at the Redwine home.
Special appreciation goes to Dr. Bradley Sherrill, Dr. Lisa Thomas, the nurses at the Regional Cancer Center and Hospice.

You and your family are so special to me. I was very sad to hear that Johnny had passed. My heart feels for you as I know what you will be going through. You and Johnny will always be special as I have wonderful memories of the time in our lives when we were rearing and teaching our children. My love to all of your family. To Big Johns Family, My thoughts and prayers are with you in the passing of John. He always went the extra mile to serve his customers with the backhoe business and the service station, alsways happy to see everyone.
His belief in Jesus Christ was so obvious in everything he did. God Bless the Family, Big John is with his Lord.
